OGP Action Plan Co-Creation

OGP Action Plan Co-Creation, Elgeyo Marakwet and Nandi Counties

Background

With support from the OGP MDTF, we endeavored strengthen inclusive and participative co-creation process for the county’s  second OGP Action Plan 2018.

Overview

We engaged 200 participants throughout the co-creation process and 75% of all government departments in a series of listening tours.

As a result, we delivered the respective OGP Action Plans with total seven  commitments targeted at reforming procurement systems, expanding participatory governance for greater inclusivity, re-engineer healthcare service delivery, strengthen efficiency of public spending through Citizen-Generated Data and empower young people through linkages.

Three more counties join the OGP Community

Four County governments In Kenya are now participating in the OGP Local Program – an increase of three from 2016.  The three counties i.e Elgeyo Marakwet (pioneering member 2016), Makueni, and Nandi (2020 respectively) are at the forefront of creating an enabling environment for democracy and governance reforms. Nairobi County is yet to submit its action plan as required by the OGP.
