The objective

Regulations should have two-parts emergency response. On part focused on direct response to the pandemic and the other to be a general responses targeted at economic recovery from the effects of the pandemic on the economy.

Background

The national treasury invited the public to provide input to the PFM Regulations that established the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund (ERF). This was commendable of National Treasury.

Project Summary

In this submission, our main argument was that the regulations should have two-parts emergency response. On part focused on direct response to the pandemic and the other to be a general responses targeted at economic recovery from the effects of the pandemic on the economy.

Background

An overview of how Open Data strengthen democracies around the World.

OGI staff and consultants in different locations within Elgeyo Marakwet giving a brief of data collection training data collection and digitization experience. 

CHVs training – Kaptarakwa Ward

CHVs need to have a holistic understanding of the data collection exercise, particularly of the collection tool (questionnaire), and the data that is required. Partnering with the Open Institute, OGI Kenya and supported by the GIZ Kenya’s Good Governance Programme, Elgeyo Marakwet County is leading in using data for good governance by conducting a household census in 101,000 households. The activities will be taking place in Kaptarakwa, Arror, Kapyego and Tambach wards in the county.This 2.4 minutes video provide an overview of the power open governments to promote democracy, strengthen governance systems and transform delivery of public services

CHV’s training – Kapeygo Ward

EMC Household Census | Training Of Community Health Volunteers There is a need for Community Health Volunteers (CHV’s) to go through training before the start of data collection exercise in their community. Indulging the CHV’s through the training educates them and gives them a sense of responsibility towards their county, explains Emmanuel Kongin from the Open Governance Institute.

Data collection – Kapatarakwa Ward

EMC Household Census | Elgeyo Marakwet County, Data Collection and Verification. Joyce Jelagat works for the Open Governance Institute, and during the census exercise, she supervised the data collection and verification process, working closely with the county CHVs.

Janet Chebet, a Community Health Volunteer in Elgeyo Marakwet shares her challenges on the household data collection process. She further explains that one of her biggest challenges is finding that in some cases, the head of the household is not available for face to face interviews during collection activity because of their daily income-generating activities that engage them outside the home.
